(Did you guys listen to any 'Love and Logic' materials regarding parenting? They advocate for that type of parenting). Though I 'get it in my head' I am working through my gut reactions which come out of that place of fear based religious parenting/church experience. As Jim Faye (of Love & Logic institute) says, we can be doing the right type of parenting, but hear the 'voices of our parents' telling us that we're 'doing it all wrong'. The Word of God dripping in over and over washes out the law and works, but it sure takes longer than I want it to take. I have to have accountability from friends who know me well and are not afraid to speak the truth. For that I am thankful. This is my biggest issue. I get caught up in the legalism of trying to measure up. I know that I can't yet I catch myself putting to much pressure on myself instead of trusting God and knowing that no matter how hard I try I will always fall short of the mark. I should accept that, quit pressuring myself and accept the fact that God loves me inspite of myself, and that as long as I keep trying to press in he will not forsake me. Good morning Robert.
